I Want an Exit Strategy

Saturday, September 22, 2001 8:56 AM I Want an Exit Strategy Do we have an exit strategy? None have been given so far. We do not even have an identifiable enemy. When we defeat the Taliban, what then? Do we walk off and leave the people to starve in bombed out villages? Since the utter failure of "National Defense" on 911 are we now going to change the mission of national defense? Should we not re-name the Defense Department the United States Office of Offense? It offends me, or maybe it will become international law enforcement? Will the state militia be given greater responsibility in the protection of our borders? Can NBC News ask the hard questions, or is it just here to provide more hype. I know hype comes natural to you, but don't you really have the responsibility to ask about "exit strategy". We are still in Korea, Bosnia, Kosovo, and even Germany. IN 20 years are we still going to have troops in Afghanistan, Iraq, Tajikistan, Pakistan, etc. I am afraid that this over reaction is leading to the American public providing police in military uniforms for all of the fundamentalist nations.
